Understanding Tool Categories
The Model Directory organizes AI tools by category. Categories reflect use cases — what you do with the tool, not how it's built.
How Categories Work
Categories are tags like: Coding, Marketing, Writing, Support, Design, Research. A tool can belong to multiple categories. Filtering by category narrows the directory to tools that fit that use case.
Common Categories
- Coding — IDEs, code assistants, review, docs
- Marketing — Content, ads, social, SEO
- Writing — Blog, copy, emails, docs
- Support — Chatbots, knowledge base, ticketing
- Design — Images, videos, UI
- Research — Search, summarization, analysis
- Product — Roadmaps, user research, specs
- Sales — Prospecting, outreach, CRM
Using Categories in the Directory
In the sidebar or filter panel, select one or more categories. Results show tools that match. Combine with pricing, architecture, and compliance filters for precise results.
The Bottom Line
Categories are use-case filters. Use them to find tools for your job, then refine with pricing and architecture.
