Smart Match vs. Manual Browsing
Smart Match and the Model Directory serve different discovery styles. Use the right one for the moment — or both together.
Smart Match Is Best When
- You know what you need but not which tools exist
- You want a ranked stack based on your context (budget, role, use case)
- You prefer a conversational flow over filtering
- You want a Strategy Brief that explains the recommendations
- You are new to the AI tool landscape and want guidance
Flow: Describe your needs → answer follow-ups → get a ranked stack + brief.
Directory Browsing Is Best When
- You know the category (e.g., Coding, Marketing) and want to compare
- You want to explore filters: pricing, architecture, compliance
- You have specific criteria (free only, API available, SOC 2)
- You want to scan many tools quickly
- You already have candidates and want to verify or compare
Flow: Set filters → browse cards → open profiles → add to stack.
Use Both When
- You want AI recommendations and manual verification. Run Smart Match, then browse the directory to compare the recommended tools to alternatives.
- You want to explore a category after a session. Smart Match suggests "Marketing stack" — you browse the Marketing category to see what else exists.
- You are evaluating a specific tool. Smart Match puts it in your stack — you open the profile for full details, pricing, and similar tools.
